The Musicianship

Rooted in the vibrant rhythms of the DC Metropolitan area, The Musicianship is more than just a music program—it’s a movement that uses the power of music to uplift communities, preserve cultural heritage, and create opportunities for youth.

To support their mission, we refreshed The Musicianship’s branding, redesigned their website, and created a wide range of assets for both digital and traditional platforms.

01 Visual Identity

A refined identity,
tuned for clarity.

The Musicianship already had a brand with a lot of heart—but it needed a little fine-tuning. We took a close look at the existing logo and made a few key updates to tighten things up. The new version has a thicker, more balanced symbol and type that’s easier to read at any size—making the whole thing feel more solid and put-together.

The color palette also needed some love. The old gradient sat somewhere between orange and yellow, which made the brand expression feel inconsistent. We cleaned that up with subtle tweaks—establishing orange as the clear primary color, while keeping yellow in the mix as a supporting tone. This kept things warm and vibrant, but also more intentional.

A system that feels like sound.

Warm earth tones define The Musicianship’s color palette, bringing a sense of energy, inclusivity, and community that reflects the heart of the organization. Rich oranges, soft yellows, and deep supporting hues work together to create a grounded yet vibrant visual atmosphere.

The brand’s typography is led by Sequel Sans—a clean, modern typeface that brings clarity to everything from program details to event announcements. Paired with expressive patterns inspired by the logo’s curves, including circular motifs that echo sound waves and vinyl records, the system blends structure with rhythm—just like the music it celebrates.

02 Brand Support

To help The Musicianship bring their refreshed brand to life across channels, we created a flexible set of social media templates—easy to use, visually consistent, and adaptable for everything from event promos to community highlights. We also explored a variety of print materials, applying and extending the visual language across posters, flyers, and other collateral to keep the brand feeling cohesive.

03 UX/UI Design

A brand that works on the web.

Once the refreshed brand was in place, the next step was bringing it to life online. We started by outlining a sitemap and information architecture that supports The Musicianship’s core mission—making sure their programs are easy to find and that the spotlight stays on the artists and youth they serve.

From there, we built wireframes focused on clarity and storytelling, then introduced a clean, spacious layout that carries the tone of the brand and the energy of The Musicianship.

We wanted the mobile experience to feel just as good as the desktop one—same vibe, just in a pocket-friendly format. Even with The Musicianship’s bold visual identity, we made sure everything stayed legible, easy to use, and smooth on smaller screens.

With the project wrapped up, it’s been great to see The Musicianship continue steering toward their purpose—using the power of music to lift up young people and point them toward a brighter path.
